SCamp’s Second Wave: Meet Your New Favorite Artist

It’s that time of year again…the time when Midwesterners rejoice for the end of winter is near. But the telltale sign isn’t a rise in the temperature, it’s the second wave of Summer Camp Music Festival’s lineup!

They’ve welcomed back some SCamp alums, like Break Science, STS9, Brainchild, Lotus, Family Groove Company, EOTO, and Yonder Mountain String Band. We also get the treat of some fresh new faces added to the already stacked lineup. Here are just some of the many talented artists you’ll want to get to know:

Ben Harper and The Innocent Criminals

The Grammy award-winning artist, Ben Harper, is a natural addition to the Summer Camp lineup. This group brings an effortless blend of folk, blues, and rock to poetic lyrics. Ben Harper has stated Bob Marley as an important influence to his musical style and it’s clear to see in the band’s many songs that advocate activism, peace, and love.

Aaron Kamm & the One Drops

It’s hard not to dance to this St. Louis based band. Aaron Kamm’s soulful voice brings reggae-fueled lyrics to life, and the bluesy improv jams will have your hips swaying. But the true highlight of an Aaron Kamm and the One Drops set is the amount of high energy the band brings to each performance. Whether they play the pre-party Thursday or a lazy Sunday day set, they’re a guaranteed good time to let loose with your friends

Nobide

Nobide probably isn’t on your radar yet, but trust me they will be. Many artists have been described as “genre bending”, yet I truly believe this Colorado live electronic group lives up to the title. No two songs are alike, as they explore multiple sectors of sound sometimes even within one song. Their rich synesthetic style will take you on a ride, and I personally cannot wait to experience it live.

The Soul Rebels

We’re pleased to welcome back the dynamically funky brass band, The Soul Rebels to Three Sisters Park this year! This energized eight-man band produces full sounding, jazzy, hip-hop enriched songs that’ll teleport you to Bourbon Street. And if you’re thinking this genre isn’t really your scene, it’s worth mentioning these talented musicians have worked with a wide variety of artists including Umphrey’s McGee, Pretty Lights, The String Cheese Incident, Galactic, Curren$y, and Gov’t Mule.

Ford.

This eighteen-year-old producer is just one of the many talented artists signed to ODESZA’s label, Foreign Family Collective. With that being said, you can expect good vibes, mellow beats and catchy choruses that are sure to become the soundtracks of your summer. When listening to Ford. it’s easy to picture friends, old and new, dancing with dust in the soles of your shoes, no cares in the world, just love for the life that you’re living.

So fellow scampers soon enough we’ll be trekking our way into the forest (or the fields!) to scout out home base for another amazing year of music. Meanwhile, we’ve got some time to kill and what better way to spend it than discovering new music?

Phase 2 artists are listed in white including Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals and STS9
