Only 70 days stand between us and the gates of Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas flying open and revealing everything the 2019 event has to offer! 3 nights of dusk to dawn delights go down in the desert May 17-19. Many of the most exciting pieces about EDC are still a mystery, like the artist lineup and stage designs, but thankfully we’ve got other details to obsess…err…focus on. Whether you’re camping or posting up at a hotel, doing neck workouts for 3 nights at Basspod or in shuffle school prepping for Neon Garden consider this your one stop shop for all things EDC hype!
2019 EDC Las Vegas Theme
Pasquale Rotella teamed up with lovable brainiac Bill Nye the Science Guy to reveal the theme of this year’s EDC Las Vegas, Kinetic Energy. The two also examine the scientific phenomenons EDC may produce in an attendee’s brain. Will Bill Nye make a mainstage appearance a la Bryan Cranston at Above & Beyond’s famed 2015 set? We’ll have to wait and see. Check out the video below.
Camp EDC
Last year marked the first year attendees could reside at the Speedway all weekend long and most campers gave the experience rave reviews (see what we did there?). Camp EDC is back and promises to be even better than the maiden voyage. Bigger pools, a bigger stage and bigger parties are in store for anyone who snags a ShiftPod or reserves their RV spot. The campground pool parties were recently announced and the lineups are stacked. Campers also get to attend a pre-party and this year’s headliner is none other than everyone’s favorite over the top Aussie, Fisher!
EDC Shuttles
You’ve got your hotel, Airbnb or a friendly Las Vegas local to shelter you and your squad, but how will you get to the biggest electronic festival in North America? One option is the official EDC shuttles and they’re on sale now. Standard shuttles run consistently throughout the night and morning so you don’t have to decide on a set time and will have water and restrooms at each stop. Premier shuttles run on a more set schedule but riders enjoy perks like EDC merch and an air conditioned waiting lounge at the Speedway. This year, shuttle riders don’t have to sacrifice attending the Opening Ceremonies which take place on Cosmic Meadow before the doors officially open to the rest of the festival. You and your fellow early birds can catch an Opening Ceremony shuttle and get the most bang for your bracelet.
EDC Week
Sure the main attraction is what goes down within the walls of EDC, but the Las Vegas strip grabs a piece of the action as well all week long. May 15-22 ravers basically take over the city of Las Vegas and it is a sight to see. From the Bellagio fountains to the tip top of the Stratosphere, you won’t get more than 10 feet without seeing a fellow festival attendee and the excitement in the air is, for lack of a better word, electric! Keep an eye on the EDC site for a day by day breakdown of all the pool parties and club events.
EDC Prep and Packing
The outfits, the kandi, the heat, the drive (or flight) to Vegas – there are so many things to think about between now and the moment you walk through the tunnel and stand at the top of the Speedway stairs, admiring your kingdom for the weekend. You’ve spent seemingly endless hours counting down to the day you head to Vegas – why wait til the last day to start packing? Lay out your outfits by day to make sure every bandanna, boy short, hat and pasty (both of them ;-)) are accounted for. Buy a first aid kit that has things like band aids, Tylenol, etc. and be the one who saves the day when someone in the crew needs a helping hand. Pro tip: the first-aid tents at EDC carry stuff like this too, for free! All you’ve got to do is ask. Bring a case of water for the room, don’t get stuck paying $4 for one measly minibar water. You’ll be the hero your squad deserves when they wake up feeling like dried out Spongebob. Finally, keep in mind even though EDC falls in May and not June, it’s still toasty in Vegas! Bringing things like mini spray bottles, cool towels and reusable water bottles is a wise move.
Not long now until we’re all reunited, or just plain united for first timers, under the electric sky. Keep up to date on all things EDC Las Vegas by clicking here – their site has all the info you need on things like lineups, camping, EDC week and more!
