The second phase of the mysterious Ubbi Dubbi festival at Panther Island in Fort Worth, Texas on April 27th and 28th dropped last week! I say mysterious because the name came onto the scene in November of 2018 without much notice. The festival name suddenly popped up on every social media platform with its festival debut announcement and a standby notice for the line up phases coming soon. No one really knew what to expect from two cute and creepy figurines, Ubbi and Dubbi, throwing a festival down in Texas. Ubbi is the house and techno lover of the duo and Dubbi is the trap and dubstep expert. See their adorable EDM-loving selves below.
Phase one took everyone by complete surprise two weeks after the new festival announcement. Ubbi and Dubbi came to make a serious statement by announcing some of the scene’s top players, like Destructo, Galantis, Joyryde, Illenium and Zeds Dead, who are bringing in their record label, Deadbeats, to sponsor the main stage.
Phase two was announced last Thursday and it felt like when a DJ double drops two crazy bangers that you were not expecting. The phase two artists widened the diversity of talent all across the board. Between the dark house sounds of Drezo and Habstrakt, the dubstep filth from Svdden Death and Peekaboo and the ‘music without genre borders’ sounds of What So Not, Ubbi Dubbi attendants will not find themselves bored for even a second come April 27th & 28th.
I advise any attendee to plan on getting to the festival grounds as soon as doors open because the talent will clearly be flowing right from the beginning. The large names may catch your eye, but the whole line up is filled with gems from start to finish.
