By Jordan Kausin & Jennifer Gross
With Northern Nights creeping up on us and the full lineup released, we couldn’t help but to compile a list of a handful of our favorite artists on this year’s bill. Peep and listen to the undeniable hype coming our way in just a few weeks!
Justin Martin
As the incomparable Dirtybird record label ringleader of Northern Nights, Justin Martin is bound to deliver pure flare, family feels, and hella house, of course! Rattling the redwoods with fellow Dirtybird Players in tow, join us as the pizza connoisseur himself exemplifies all that the Dirtybird movement truly is. As no new face to Northern Nights, this top tier set is quite the achievement. Taking a huge leap from his beginnings as an OG renegade party host in Golden Gate Park, he’s still our same ol’ Justin— Life of the party!
Brownies & Lemonade All Stars
Put away your picnic and get ready to dance your asses off. Brownies & Lemonade All Stars is a very special treat for all of us trap fans here in Nor Cali. Known for throwing some of the best parties in Los Angeles and introducing some of the top break out producers and DJs of the last couple years, you will not want to sleep on what they have in store for Northern Nights. They will be bringing their house party free for-all-vibe to the forest for the first time. We are on the edge of our seat to find ut who from the B&L All Stars will be representing. Their legendary “Secret Guests All Night Long” is something to be experienced. Secretly hoping to see Alexander Lewis, Luca Lush, Hex Cougar, and a very large flame thrower for roasting marshmallows.
Brasstracks
Brasstracks will be at Northern Nights. Let that sink in… Brasstracks is coming to the forest! This electrifying, high energy jazz-hip hop fusion duo is THE PARTY. On the heels of the much-anticipated release of their first track, “Stay There” from their upcoming album Part 2 “For Those Who Know” dropping this summer, this is poised to be an epic set. You will not want to miss the many exciting friends of Brasstracks who often seem to make their way up on stage to really set it off. We are crossing our fingers that Alexander Lewis and S’natra pop up to get the night festive AF.
Mr. Carmack
Slinging tracks from his hip-hop roots and fusing them with with dancey genres, Mr. Carmack is the man bringing a dance floor twist this year. With San Franciscan roots, urban, trappy, and hyphy waves are frequenting staples in his work. Carmack has always taken the chance of choosing to write whatever he pleases and allowing those projects to speak for themselves. Needless to say, these testaments to pure artistry carried his name on Bandcamp where he was able to support himself before taking flight. Word on the street is the forest may be tossed a new (musical) flame and we are HYPED!
Roy Havens
We’ve all come across those tracks turning your booty into a bounce house. For us, we thank Roy Havens, an up and coming house music curator. Complimenting Dirtybird’s bouncy, booty house bASSlines, we tip our hat to him and encourage you to not miss his set! With releases from OKNF Collective, House of Hustle, Billions, Gun Powder, and Sweet Heat Records, well, you get the message!
