The amazing team at Ideasion (pronounced eye-dee-ay-zon) has created a two-day virtual experience showcasing music & creative expression. RETROSPEKT is bringing BIPOC, women, and LGBTQIA+ voices to the forefront. The festival is streaming live on July 11th-12th on Twitch and YouTube.
Not only that, but they’ve partnered with WAVE amongst others to curate an incredible stream. This will not be another poorly lit bedroom DJ set but an epic masterpiece. Headliners include Anabel Englund, Autograf, Goldfish, Loud Luxury, SNBRN, SOFI TUKKER, The Knocks, Vintage Culture.
What is This Exactly?
“RETROSPEKT was created in the wake of the COVID-19 destruction to the music industry and designed to bring our music community together by supporting underrepresented artists and empowering them to speak in an organic and creative way,” said Lauren Kashuk, founder and creative director of Ideaison, the brains behind RETROSPEKT. “This event is our way of coping with shared trauma by creating something positive that gives people the power to create, express, and operate in our new world. RETROSPEKT supports the artists beyond the stage and integrates our new virtual world with the beloved in-person experience we know fans are craving. The professionals involved in this festival have pulled out every stop, and this experience is sure to incite the range of emotions, similar to your favorite movie.”
What Makes This Virtual Event Unique?
Cross-Genre Lineup
In the physical world, many festival lovers enjoy attending events that present a wide variety of artists to choose from. Multi-genre festivals like Coachella and Bonnaroo are widely celebrated for their diversity. Recently, virtual festivals have been lacking that musical mix. The organizers of RETROSPEKT worked hard to curate a diverse lineup, bringing a mixture of gender, ethnicity, and genre to the airwaves.
Cinematic Experience
Calling this event a virtual music festival or a live stream simply does not do it justice. They have created four immersive stages, brought on a top-notch video and editing team, and created a cinematic experience for viewers. Immersive art, culture, spoken word poetry dance performances, and even human fountains will be showcased alongside the musical performances. Some headliners will perform via Wave, a mixed reality virtual concert that transforms artists in real-time onto a virtual stage.
Not only will it be incredible to watch, but donations collected during the event will also be going towards some great causes. Funds will be going to the artists playing as well as charity partners To Write Love on Her Arms & MusiCares and music industry relief impacted by COVID-19.
Be sure to tune in to this incredible event live on Twitch and YouTube July 11th and 12th.
