It’s official: Decade One is happening! Electric Forest released the highly-anticipated 10th anniversary lineup today for June 25-28, 2020 in Rothbury, Michigan. Old friends, raw talent and legendary special guests will congregate on Michigan’s West side to get groovy and celebrate 10 years of our beloved home away from home.
Headliners and funky-fathers-of-the-fest The String Cheese Incident will grace Sherwood Forest alongside resident Bassnectar and alums Flume, Major Lazer—and, surprise!—Diplo, Big Gigantic and The Disco Biscuits as additional headliners.
Louis the Child (who filled in last second in 2019 to close out the Carousel Club after Honey Dijon’s flight was cancelled) will take the last headlining spot for 2020.
Special sets are littered all over this bill (did somebody say Prize Cart!?) But after all, Electric Forest has been tripping us up since day one with mind games and surprises that prove they know us way. too. well.
Even though the fest has been approved for 10 more glorious years, some artists still have to say goodbye. After 20 years creating music, Noisia will be joining us in the Forest on their last ever tour together and their very last Forest performance. Along to celebrate with them will be extra bass from 12th Planet, G Jones, Subtronics, Rusko, Zomboy and so many more. To cool off, CloZee, Tchami, Mija and Golf Clap will slide through with some smooth, crisp house.
The festival’s 10th birthday coincides with a special album celebrating four decades of its own, and it’s a game changer for this lineup: Jerry Harrison & Adrian Belew of the Talking Heads will join nine-piece, power-funk militia Turkuaz to perform Remain in Light in honor of the album turning 40, according to the Electric Forest lineup page. The Talking Heads were true pioneers of their time, always getting weird in the face of cultural norms. This is going to be a once-in-a-lifetime set that you will absolutely regret missing. You may get to see it somewhere else on tour, but that tour will not have the Forest.
Spitfire violinist Lindsey Stirling will join the party and rock out on her strings in the Forest this year. Stirling would make for the perfect artist collab alongside the String Cheese Incident on some harder jams—I smell a guest appearance!
A first wave lineup like this is impossible to ignore. Most artists will be added as the festival approaches, including a full lineup for the Silent Disco, vendors and more!
Wristbands & lodging packages go on sale this Friday, December 6. Those lucky ducks with loyalty codes get first grabs tomorrow, Wednesday, December 4.
