As one festival year comes to an end, another one is revving up, and 2020 is shaping to be a huge one. A number of festivals are celebrating a ten year anniversary next year and Hangout Music Festival is one of them! Hangout has been located in Gulf Shores, Alabama since 2010 and has featured legendary bands and artists over its ten-year life span. Hangout will take place from May 15th-17th, 2020 and the 10th-anniversary lineup is stacked from top to bottom featuring headliners including The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Post Malone, Billie Eilish, Marshmello, and Lana Del Rey.
This lineup is great because there’s something here for everyone from EDM to indie, pop, hip hop, country and everything in between. Plus it’s on the beach, what can beat that? Here is a little closer look at some of the other artists on the lineup! Check out Hangout’s full lineup at the bottom!
The Head and The Heart
For the first time in three years, The Head And The Heart are back on tour with new music and new revitalized energy. This indie-folk band formed a little over ten years ago in Seattle, Washington. To date, the band has released four studio albums and has been featured in a number of TV series and movies. Their latest studio album, Living Marriage, was released last May. Their hit single from the album titled ‘Missed Connection’ peaked at number one on the US alternative rock charts and has thrown them back into the music scene spotlight. Below is their hit song ‘Down In The Valley’ from their first studio album!
Quinn XCII
Mikael Temrowski, better known as Quinn XCII, has taken the festival scene and music industry by storm over the last couple of years with the release of two studio albums. His first studio album, The Story Of Us, shot him into the national spotlight with its release in September of 2017. The album showcases his ability to blend rock, reggae, hip hop and soulful sounds with lyrics that most everyone can connect to. His newfound popularity from his first album fueled him into recording and releasing his second studio album titled From Michigan With Love. This second album was supported by a tour featuring performances at music festivals across the country including Firefly, Bonnaroo and Music Midtown. In July of 2019, Quinn released yet another single titled ‘Stacey’ and set to have another big year of touring. Check out his single “Another Day In Paradise” below!
Louis the Child
This year’s Hangout Music Festival lineup features a lot of fantastic DJs throughout the weekend including RL Grime, Big Wild, Illineum, Madeon and Marshmellow. However, out of all of the EDM artists slotted, the duo I’m most excited to see would have to be Louis The Child. This Chicago-based duo has been performing at venues around the country since 2013 and have quickly climbed towards the top of lineups ever since.
2020 is shaping up to be another big year for the duo already announcing performances at Electric Forest and Hangout Fest with a lot more to be revealed. Check out the single that shot them into the national spotlight titled “It’s Strange” below!
Cage the Elephant
This Grammy-winning rock band from Bowling Green, Kentucky has helped shape the rock and alternative music scenes for over a decade. To date, the band has released five studio albums with their latest album titled Social Cues. This album is their first project in nearly four years and has them picking back up where they left off. This latest project has been nominated for a Grammy for best rock album and will put them back on the road for a huge supporting tour. Check out the band’s hit single “Social Cues” from their latest album below!
T-Pain
Faheem Rasheed Najm, better known as T-Pain, is a man of many talents known for his singing/songwriting, producing and even some acting. T-Pain rose to fame more than ten years ago when his second studio album debuted at number one on the Billboard top 200 charts. Since that album, T-Pain has been nominated and won numerous awards including a couple Grammys. Recently T-Pain was on the new hit TV show called The Masked Singer where (spoiler alert) he would eventually win. After the victory, T-Pain quickly released a new studio album titled 1UP and also announced a big tour supporting it. His powerful, soulful voice with some nostalgic hip-hop throwbacks makes T-Pain a must-see on any music festival lineup he’s a part of. Check out his NPR Tiny Desk performance below!
