Based in Toulouse, France, 23-year-old producer and multi-instrumentalist Laster has been making serious moves within the past couple years to cement himself as a true up-and-comer to keep an eye on. From the debut of his Stelar EP earlier this year, Laster had been able to demonstrate his extensive artistic talent within several elements of music and instrumentation. Stelar was a rework of the French Touch sound, with Laster infusing his skills as a guitarist to compose a masterpiece of harmonic mastery.
Following similar inspiration of the French Touch sound (such as Ed Banger, Justice, etc.) of the early 2000s, Laster recently released his new single “Spacewalk” via Stereofox Records on September 18th. “Spacewalk” is Stereofox Records’s twelfth official release, and it most notably infuses synthwave textures and contemporary hip-hop. “Spacewalk” is a literal stroll through the galaxy. It’s groovy, vibey, fun, and has a fantastic space trap element that just makes me want to dance along to the rhythm with a big grin on my face.
Following the rise of French-producer CloZee from a couple years ago, the French electronic scene and its talented producers has been gradually becoming more known within music enthusiasts who reside in the United States, and I can predict things are only going to go up from here for Laster.
“This track explores depths that only the Voyager 1 probe could understand. It’s an epic instrumental future trap piece that will take you back and forth in time. This piece is meant to instill a strong desire for our infinite being through an expansive melodic experience.” -Stereofox
Over the past three years, Laster has been annually releasing EPs, most notably several volumes of Beat Tape, and several singles. With new music being produced this regularly, I’m excited to see what Laster will surprise us with next following “Spacewalk.”
If “Spacewalk” is your type of jam, I’d recommend you get familiar with Stereofox. Founded in 2013, Stereofox is an amazing hub for discovering new music. Originally designed to be a music blog, it has gradually expanded into Stereofox Records, while still maintaining its blog portion to provide the best new music of all genres. Music enthusiasts will find a variety of genres on its site, such as various sub-genres of electronic, rock, hip-hop, R&B, blues, jazz, and so much more.
