Philly’s Made In America Festival returns this coming weekend, August 31st-September 1st. A stacked lineup spans the two-day city fest – and we’ve put together a playlist to celebrate! Check out these highlights beforehand, then head to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway over Labor Day Weekend for a late-summer celebration in the City of Brotherly Love.
Travis Scott:
The 2019 headliner is a perfect festival choice – his music is equal parts catchy and trippy, and he knows how to put together great visuals (e.g., the literal theme park/roller coaster he had on his most recent tour). Stick around for “goosebumps,” “SICKO MODE,” and “Yosemite,” along with newer tracks like his feature on Ed Sheeran’s “Antisocial” and Young Thug’s “The London.”
Cardi B:
Cardi brings the party no matter what – I most recently saw her at Bonnaroo and she literally performed more than half of her set in a robe because her outfit ripped. Come for the “Money,” stay for the “Thotiana” remix. (Blueface will also be at MIA! Here’s hoping that he shows up during her set, or vice-versa.)
Lizzo:
Lizzo’s been getting an insane amount of coverage this festival season, and it’s so well deserved. She’s been working hard for years, and people are starting to recognize it! Though she may not be the biggest headliner at this year’s MIA, I have a feeling that next year she’ll be commanding those top spots. Many will only be there for “Truth Hurts,” but “Boys,” “Cuz I Love You,” and “Tempo” are also worth your time (among so many other Lizzo tracks – she’s the best!).
Anderson .Paak:
You might be one person in a crowd of 50,000 for Anderson .Paak’s set, but he’ll still make you feel like you’re at a neighborhood block party. He knows how to bring a crowd together and get everyone dancing. Keep an ear out for “Bubblin.”
Dominic Fike:
Relative newcomer Dominic Fike knows how to put together a catchy tune – stop by his set for chill indie vibes, courtesy of his songs “3 Nights” and “Rollerblades.”
Gucci Mane:
Gucci’s been around forever, but I only really started listening to him after reading his autobiography (which I highly recommend!). He seems to be in a great place now and his music is just as good – don’t sleep on his set at MIA this year!
Not sold yet? Along with these headliners, Made In America’s also got Kaytranada, Hippie Sabotage, Megan Thee Stallion, and more. Get tickets and learn more about the fest here.
