Keeneland Welcomes Debut Of Railbird Festival: From Producers of Bonnaroo & Forecastle

Lexington, Kentucky is the horse capital of the world and home to one of the nation’s best horse racing tracks that will soon host a brand new top notch music festival! This year, Keeneland will host the two-day Railbird Festival on August 10-11th. A Railbird is a horse racing enthusiast that is known for sticking close to the action and hanging on the rail, just like everyone that rides the rail for his or her favorite artist at a show. The festival will take place in The Meadow and on The Hill surrounding Keeneland, rather than inside the racetrack gates, paddock or infield areas. This will provide plenty of room for the expected 15,000-20,000 attendees. Railbird Festival will be celebrating Lexington’s rich horse racing history, along with other local traditions that includes bourbon, food, and a top notch lineup featuring leading rock, americana, folk, and bluegrass artists!

“Railbird will be a celebration of our heritage, and an up-close-and-personal Kentucky experience at our historic racecourse,” said Vince Gabbert, Keeneland vice president and chief operating officer. “AC Entertainment brings an incredible track record and years of experience and expertise in booking and managing highly acclaimed music festivals, so we are so pleased to work with them to create Railbird here on the grounds at Keeneland.”

AC Entertainment has been a successful music festival producer for years now. Its impressive resume includes founding and co-producing Bonnaroo, producing Louisville, Kentucky’s Forecastle Festival, as well as founding a number of other music festivals in the area and putting on over 1,000 concerts a year. AC Entertainment’s experience over the years means Railbird should be a unique and unforgettable experience that will encompass the bluegrass state’s rich bourbon and horse racing traditions.

“Railbird Festival will bring A-list music and Lexington’s best this August — Keeneland, Kentucky bourbon, local cuisine and craft beer,” said Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton in the release. “I look forward to seeing our city shine in the national spotlight.”
