On December 8th, ALT 105.3’s alternative, rock-themed Not So Silent Night returns to the San Jose SAP Center with a huge lineup. Florence + the Machine, Death Cab for Cutie, Bastille, Young the Giant, Chvrches, The Struts, and Elle King will all be performing, so you’re in for an early Christmas present! Here are the three acts I’m most excited to see:
Florence + The Machine
I’ve seen Florence twice now (in 2010 and this summer at Outside Lands) and she is literally an ethereal fairy on stage with the most powerful, soul-wrenching voice I’ve ever experienced. She knows how to bring the crowd on a journey and through the full range of emotions. One song she’ll be floating and jumping joyously across the stage, getting the whole crowd amped and jumping along with her, and the next song she’ll bring the crowd to tears with everyone holding hands. Her presence is unmatched and it’s honestly worth buying a ticket just to see this goddess perform! Check out her latest album below:
Death Cab for Cutie
Death Cab for Cutie was one of the most definitive indie bands of the 2000s (anyone who was in middle or high school when Soul Meets Body came out was a Death Cab fan). And they’ve continued to release popular songs and albums with their signature indie sound. Lead singer, Ben Gibbard, is a seasoned performer with a unique, melodic voice that sounds just as good in person as the albums. With nine albums out, Death Cab for Cutie has a deep arsenal to play from. And with the release of their newest album Thank You For Today, fans will most likely hear a good mix of newer and older songs, showing off their range. Check out their newest album below.
The Struts
Get ready to rock out and dance! Headbang perhaps? In recent years, The Struts have been embraced by some of the biggest icons in rock-and-roll. They’ve opened for The Rolling Stones, The Who, Guns N’ Roses, the Foo Fighters, and more. Known for their on-stage swagger, stage presence, and outlandish outfits, you’ll be in for a real show!
