The holiday season is undeniably upon us. The smell of pumpkin spice has already saturated the air and soon it will be time for family gatherings, turkey dinners, and mornings spent defrosting the car. But before we get too far ahead of ourselves, EDM has its own special holiday to celebrate. Every year, just before October 31st, RL Grime releases his highly anticipated Halloween Mix. The Los Angeles based DJ has been keeping up this tradition since 2012 and each year he seems to outdo himself.

Why RL Grime? Fans can’t get enough of the dark and grimey beats that are perfect for a spooky October soundtrack. The tradition has grown so much in the past six years that RL Grime is welcoming song submissions from fans to help inspire the mix this year. A request has been made for fans/producers to send their “scariest songs” to [email protected] for consideration. If you’ve haven’t heard of his Halloween mixes before, here’s Halloween VI that was released last year!

This year’s Halloween mix is set to release on October 27, which just so happens to be the same night RL Grime will be headlining the Wynwood Fear Factory in Miami, Florida. For those unfamiliar with Miami, Wynwood is a young and vibrant neighborhood where artists reign supreme. Every street corner is filled with murals and displays curated by some of the world’s best. It’s also a hot spot for foodies and lovers of craft beer. Simply put, Wynwood has entertainment everywhere you look, which makes it the perfect place to celebrate Halloween with a heavy side of bass.

Wynwood Fear Factory has only been running since 2016, but the lineup packs some serious talent into the 2-day festival. In addition to RL Grime’s fearful finale, festees will be treated to sets by Dmitri Vegas and Like Mike, Deorro, and a closing set from Galantis to kick off the weekend. In support will be Keys N’ Krates, who I have seen on 5 separate occasions without being disappointed; and Getter, who has a lot more to say than just “suh dude?” Sets by Duke Dumont, Brohug, and Fisher will help round out the weekend as well.

The relationship between the city of Miami and EDM is special. Few other locations embrace and celebrate dance music in the way Miami does, which makes this festival even more exciting. Fans will be out in full force to ensure that this party keeps going well into the night. As the weeks pass and the seasons change, the anticipation will only grow. It wouldn’t be Christmas without Santa. It wouldn’t be Thanksgiving without Turkey. And it’s certainly not Halloween without RL Grime.
