With the world’s largest hard dance festival right around the corner, Defqon.1 is expected to host their biggest festival to date! Along with almost 250 of the biggest names in the harder styles, Defqon.1 is known for its insane events that happen throughout the weekend. This year will be my third time attending so I’ve compiled a list of the must-see events to make sure you have one of the best weekends ever!
THE GATHERING
The Gathering marks the official opening of one of the best weekends of your life! Held at the Blue Stage, five of the biggest names in the harder styles kick off the weekend here. This year’s gathering will feature Atmozfears, B-Front & Phuture Noize, Bass Modulators, Frequencerz, and Headhunterz and will be hosted by the voice of the harder styles, MC Villain!
If you’re looking for something a little harder, the gathering also extends to the Black Stage with a special 20 years of Endymion live performance opening the party. Destructive Tendencies, Korsakoff, Paul Elstak and Tha Playah will also appear on the Hardcore Stage, hosted by Ruffian! The Gathering is the perfect way to kick off the weekend, get a taste of the festival grounds, and meet some of your future best friends!
POWER HOUR
Believe me when I say this will be one of the wildest hours of your life! Power Hour is Defqon’s official 60-minute Main Stage celebration and features just about all of your favourites on one stage. This event is basically one massive fast-paced b2b set with a tonne of artists coming together to create one of the most intense and insane vibes on the planet!
Try to secure a spot as close to the front as possible to make sure you don’t miss out on any of the action! Expect to be covered in confetti, play with and throw around giant inflatables, and even meet some of your favourite artists and MC’s who will be dancing and crowd surfing with festival goers! This is easily one of the most insane events in the festival scene and has to be seen to be believed! Check out last year’s power hour here!
THE END SHOW
The Defqon.1 endshow has made festival history being crowned as one of the biggest and best endshows in the world! After an insane day of action-packed events and performances, close out your Saturday night at the Red Stage with 20 minutes of some of the best fireworks and lasers you will ever see! Complimented by the official Defqon.1 anthem and a tonne of your favourite tracks, this show is the end show of all end shows and will be something you’ll never forget! THE AFTERPARTY
Not ready to head back to your tent? If 12 hours of pure madness isn’t enough, head to the official afterparty at the Blue Stage and keep the party going until the sun comes up! This year’s party will feature Bass Chaserz, DJ The Prophet, Mental Theo and TNT!
SUNDAY FUNDAY
The newest addition to Defqon.1 this year is Sunday Funday, “the craziest festival day of the year!” In addition to opening up the Main Stage early, there will be a range of Sunday morning specials including an Open Air-Bed Concert, Breakfast for Champions and Scavenger Hunt! Dress up in your craziest outfit and take part of the biggest dress-up party in Defqon.1 history! There are also a tonne of surprises in store for Sunday Funday including brand new live acts so make sure to save some energy for the last day!
THE CLOSING CEREMONY
The closing ceremony is one of the most magical moments of Defqon.1. Thousands of hardstyle lovers gather together at the Red Stage for an incredible 3-hour spectacle of music, entertainment, and a firework spectacular. This year’s closing ceremony will feature the three biggest names in the scene: Coone, Brennan Heart and Project One! This will be one of the biggest closing ceremonies in Defqon.1 history so make sure to get down to the Red Stage early and secure a good spot!
