With such a stacked lineup, it’s hard to believe that this will only be UpNorth’s second year. Music lovers are constantly bombarded by a dizzying array of new and old festivals popping up all over the country each year, making it difficult to choose which events are worth adding to your summer festival list. But this I can assure you; the diverse music, mesmerizing art, and all of the nature you heart could desire, will make you feel over the moon about attending this unique event.
As you travel north along the Lake Michigan coast to reach Copemish, you’ll be enraptured by the beautiful scenery your drive will provide, ultimately foreshadowing the beauty you’ll be exposed to as you make your way pass the gates of UpNorth. This small town festival tucked away in the middle of nowhere offers more than just intimate vibes, as the low-light pollution also gives attendees a breathtaking view of the sky each night. Count all the shooting stars while immersing yourself in the music and the magic of the surrounding forest.
UpNorth doesn’t only have impeccable vibes and views of all the constellations, but it also showcases big headliners and other musical support that will have you dancing on your feet from when gates open until the music ends. G Jones, a trippy, broken beat bass producer, Big Wild, a big-bass dance artist, and Rezz, a genre-smashing dark techno dj, headline the fest. However, don’t just keep your focus there. Make sure to experience many of the smaller acts as you can over the weekend!
Luzcid throws down a set filled with handfuls of exhilarating dubstep that also obscures all variations of bass music. He may be considered a small act on the bill, but has worked with names as big as Bassnectar and has a future worth keeping tabs on. Bleep Bloop is known for his bass-heavy beats that are stripped raw and merged with crisp, uncanny soundscapes. His unique sound intertwines thick drums, bass, and beats that morphs genres together in a low-frequency style that will be sure to make you melt. And if it’s deep and heavy bass that you’re searching for, The Widdler’s eclectic sound appeals to ears on all ends of the dubstep spectrum.
So clear your calendars for August 18-20 and make the riveting journey to UpNorth Festival!
