Bumbershoot Festival: 5 Acts You Can’t Miss

Dreaming of an evening (or two) under the Space Needle? Look no further. Bumbershoot is a party in the heart of Seattle, featuring some of electronic music’s finest artists to date. Dillon Francis, Flume, and Odesza are some notable names who will grace the stages under the PNW stars. The annual, 3-day fest returns to Washington over Labor Day weekend and we’re covering the five acts you absolutely cannot miss.

LÉON

What a name, what a voice. This young Swedish singer is rising and rising quick. With a unique, unforgettable sound, she’s making waves with her EP, For You. It’s safe to say we’re stoked to see Tired of Talking live. Her mom is a cellist and her dad is a conductor/composer, so clearly, the talent doesn’t fall far from the family tree. She’ll be performing on Sunday and we think you’ll want to see this one.

ODESZA

This one is a no-brainer. Have you heard A Moment Apart? It hasn’t been fully released and we’re already obsessed. ODESZA hails from Seattle, meaning they’ll probably be stoked to be playing in their hometown. The electronic duo consists of Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight, who formed their group in 2012 after graduating from Western Washington University. Their show at Red Rocks (which kicked off the 2017 season) was TO DIE FOR. See below if you don’t believe us.

DILLON FRANCIS

I’ll be honest, this one is a personal favorite. Have you ever seen an artist live and felt like you’d died and gone to heaven, then died and gone to heaven again after reminiscing? These were my exact feelings after seeing Dillon at Coachella 2017. It was, BY FAR, one of the most memorable shows I’ve ever experienced at Coachella. I’ve been six times, so I’m no stranger. He’s so likable it almost makes me sick. Check out his Snapchat if you’re ever having a bad day. Hailing from LA, he brings a presence to the stage unlike any other DJ on this planet. “Get Low”, “Say Less ft. G-Eazy”, and “Anywhere ft. Will Heard” are some notable bangers. Check out his life-changing performance that I literally still obsess about to this day. Note that G-Eazy makes an appearance and so do I on the shoulders of my brave friend (Hey, Albert!) at 9:51.

LANY

Guilty… this is another personal favorite. LANY is an up and coming pop band that gives me all the feels. I’ve been following them since 2013 so I feel personally attached to their sound. Now that they’ve become more prominent, I’m excited that others can enjoy their music as much as I have for the past few years. Their most recent album, LANY, features slow, upbeat, and mellow songs that make you wanna groove on the beach with a glass of wine in hand. ILYSB is one of my all-time favorites. It was featured on their 2015 EP, Make-Out, and was featured again on their most recent release. It’s a great song so I don’t blame them for the double-promotion.

THE ROOTS

Ah, the face of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. This hip-hop group has a groove you can’t ignore. Formed in Philadelphia, PA, by “Black Thought” and “Questlove”, The Roots bring a funky-cool sound to every track they produce. Their live sets are known to be some of the best in the industry. We’ve also come to know and love their skits, which feature singers like Adele, Ed Sheeran… need we say more?

Labor Day Weekend in Seattle is shaping up to be an epic musical adventure. Don’t miss out! Grab your passes here and view the official lineup below.
