Find Your Rabbit Hole: A Stage by Stage Guide to Nocturnal Wonderland

written by Mara Mannella

Though fans everywhere are still anxiously awaiting the official stage by stage lineup to be announced for the fast approaching Nocturnal Wonderland, some hints from Insomniac and trusty raver’s intuition have helped us make some educated guesses on what might be in store.
Wolves’ Den
Home to all things big room and progressive house, the Wolves’ Den will be the flagship stage of this year’s event. Never one to skimp on production, Pasquale always has something incredible to show off here, from flurries of fireworks to mesmerizing LED visuals. Providing the soundtrack to your Wolves’ Den adventure could be the likes of Laidback Luke, Bingo Players or quite fittingly, Alison Wonderland.
Labyrinth
Nocturnal’s website boasts “live electronic sounds” and “bass-booming monsters” at this fan-favorite stage. Usually located closest to the festival campgrounds, the sounds from this stage may just shake your tent stakes loose. This spacious area is perfect for those who like to be up close and personal for the thumping bass, or those who’d rather enjoy from afar. Possible artists may include Keys N Krates, Sub Focus or Big Gigantic.
Sunken Garden
The teaser on Nocturnal Wonderland’s website for this stage doesn’t give much away, though it does mention it will feature “underground sounds” and be “picturesque”. Maybe those who are In The MOOD could find their queen Nicole Moudaber here…or could it be the dreamlike sounds of Anjunadeep sweeping through the air? Whichever the genre, this stage always proves to be musical quicksand for those who enter.
Upside-Down House
Insomniac promises “delightful surprises” at this stage, where up is down and down is up. In past years this has been the destination for funky beats, featuring the likes of rave legend DJ Dan and mashup master Z-Trip. It’s anyone’s guess what 2016 holds for this stage. Will it host the up and comers of the Discovery Project? Or will this be home to genre transcending artists like Liquid Stranger or Masha?
Temple Noctem
No reading between the lines here, Nocturnal’s website proclaims Temple Noctem as the mecca of hardstyle. International legends will electrify the night with heart-stopping beats and reverse bass galore. Join the ranks of hard dance worshipers as superstars like Coone, Evil Activities, Technoboy and Gammer blast through set after set.
