Spread across 60 enchanted acres near Flagstaff, Arizona, Gateway Ranch has long been a playground for the soul—a place where creativity dances and celebration hums in the air. Hidden amidst the desert brush you’ll discover a serene meditation temple, a classic Navajo hogan, and an impressive 65-foot geodesic dome, standing tall like a spaceship, ready to transport anyone seeking connection, awe, or the warmth of a great fire circle. This setting is the perfect home for Southwest Flow Festival, now in its fourth year, with the latest edition taking place on September 19th and 20th, 2025. It was a weekend to remember, where the spirit of the land and the vibrant energy of the flow arts community united in seamless harmony.

In a world where profit often takes center stage, Southwest Flow Festival (SWFF) stands out by putting purpose first. Flow festivals are like secret gardens tucked away from the noise of the world—intimate, magical, and brimming with soul. They’re places where you can spin under the stars without bumping elbows, where the fire circles feel like ancient rituals and every hug lasts a little longer.
“A successful event is the highest percentage of people possible leaving feeling better than when they came. It’s a success if somebody learned a new skill, met a new friend or just has something they didn’t have before.” -Michael Hucks, Event Director of SWFF and Sondering.life
Workshop Culture at SWFF
Events at Gateway Ranch are centered around community contribution and offer a chance for individuals and groups to share their unique talents. Whether you’re just starting out in flow arts or you’re an experienced pro, SWFF has something for everyone to discover. Workshops, led by instructors from across the country, cater to all skill levels and cover a wide variety of topics, including poi, double staff, contact staff, dragon staff, fans, aerial arts, and more. 32 workshops were scheduled over the course of Friday and Saturday, with additional renegade sign-ups available for anyone eager to teach.

CPZ- Creative Play Zone and The Fire Circle
Transformation thrives at Gateway Ranch—both within the participants and in the evolution of the event itself over the years. Welcome to the Creative Play Zone (CPZ), featuring a redesigned fire circle, energetic DJ sets, expansive dance-floor, and an interactive spray-paint mural. What was once a key aspect of the experience has now become the focal point of the Southwest Flow Festival 2025.
CPZ is a true playground for creativity. Whether you’re dancing with LED lights, perfecting new tricks on the dance floor, flowing in the fire circle, adding your mark to the mural, or simply soaking in the energy of others, it’s sure to be one of the most unforgettable nights of your life. And if you prefer to sit back and witness the mesmerizing rhythms of the fire circle, you’re not alone—many find themselves in awe, letting the magic unfold before them.

The Friday Night Instructor Showcase
Applications for teaching at SWFF open a few months before the event, with instructors also having the opportunity to be featured in the Friday Night Instructor Gala if they wish. Having attended numerous flow festivals across the country, I can confidently say that this is one of the best performance art showcases to ever grace a flow festival. Primarily hosted in The Dome-fire, LED, and aerial acts captivate the audience and spark inspiration to explore workshops led by the talented instructors throughout the weekend.

This festival is a space for discovery—where you not only learn the art of flow, but also uncover new layers of yourself. Inspiration fills every corner.
