Calling all Lovers & Friends!

As if festival season couldn’t be more exciting, Goldenvoice has just announced its newest festival: Lovers & Friends.

Lovers & Friends Fest is a one-day-only event hosted on Saturday, May 9 at The Grounds at Dignity Health Sports Park in Los Angeles, California. As you can expect from the production company that created Coachella and Stagecoach, they have brought together a stacked line up of hip-hop, rap and R&B legends together, including:

Usher, Ludacris and Lil Jon

Thanks to this Atlanta trio, we were blessed with the song “Lovers and Friends” back in 2004. Usher, Luda and Lil Jon are also well known for creating party-favorite, “Yeah!” and for their own individual discographies which dominated the 2000s. It was hinted by Lil Jon on Twitter, back in November 2019, that a new collaboration album is in the works, so we can only hope that it will be released before the festival.

Jhené Aiko

With the release of her newest single “P*$$Y FAIRY (OTW),” it’s an obvious no-brainer that we are closer to a brand new album from this Los Angeles native. At the moment, digital copies of Jhené Aiko’s forthcoming album are being sold with her newest merchandise. But just after hearing this song, I know the rest of her awaited songs will be on repeat up until I see her live on stage.

T-Pain

This rapping, singing, songwriting producer is a must-see at any event you go to. Despite a lot of his songs being auto-tuned, you definitely need to hear him live. It’s no wonder that he won the first season of The Masked Singer last year! The day that he won, T-Pain also dropped his most recent album 1Up. We may be ready to groove to “Buy U a Drank” and “Bartender,” but we’re also ready to hear some of his new songs live!

Brandy

“Have you ever” wanted to see Brandy live? We all do! Alongside Monica (who will also be there!!!), they gave us the ultimate bop “The Boy is Mine.” This multitalented artist dominated the ‘90s back with her voice and with her acting career. She recently released her single “Freedom Rings” 25 years after her debut album dropped. This only means a forthcoming album will hopefully be out by May. Until then, here’s her newest single:

Saweetie

This “ICY GRL” hit us hard in 2018, with singles upon singles that you’ve most certainly heard at all the nightclubs and house parties. With samples such as Petey Pablo’s “Freek-a-leek” and Khia’s “My Neck, My Back,” Saweetie’s been coming out with straight bops that will make everyone move and groove. Who knows? Maybe we’ll get a live performance of the “My Type” remix with Jhené Aiko.

Montell Jordan

I know you all know Montell Jordan’s hit, “This Is How We Do It.” If this doesn’t instantly make you start running for the dance floor, I don’t know what will. So you bet I better see you all running when he takes the stage. Just last year, he released his first R&B album in over a decade titled Masterpeace, giving us more reason to want to see him live.
