New York City is truly the city that never sleeps. More importantly, you shouldn’t be sleeping on the The Governors Ball music festival. Returning to Randall’s Island Park this June 5-7 for their tenth year, this promising festival held by Founders Entertainment celebrates the true melting pot of NYC culture. In other words, you can count on diverse music, beautiful art, a food haven, and lots more in store.
The Governors Ball encompasses the mantra, “you’re doing great.” Short and sweet, this helps promote the positive environment they strive to bring year after year. And after seeing the 2020 lineup announcement following a slew of clues on social media, all we have to say is: you’re doing great, Governors Ball. I mean, how many festivals can you see Tame Impala, Flume, AND Missy Elliott? As an avid music lover of just about any genre, this lineup checks all the boxes. High school me would be freaking out (but let’s be real, I’m still freaking out over it).
Headliners aside, let’s dive a little bit deeper into the Governors Ball lineup.
Whether you like hip hop, indie, or electronic music, there’s a place for you here. Some artists that immediately catch my eye are the Australian trio Rufus du Sol and their stunningly composed live show, Madeon’s Good Faith set, as well as the one and only Stevie Nicks from Fleetwood Mac–seeing “Rhiannon” performed live is on everyone’s bucket list, right? Even then, there’s still Of Monsters and Men, Milky Chance, and so many more. There’s definitely no shortage of good music here.
We’re already packing our bags for this one. Tickets go on sale tomorrow, January 17th at 12 PM EST and are available here.
Passes range from general admission to their new, revamped 2020 VIP program that goes as far as on-stage viewing. They also offer transportation passes through the ferry or shuttles.
In an effort to improve the festival and offer the highest quality experience, the Governors Ball listened to feedback from previous years and also implemented a new age policy. Anyone aged 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult who is 21+. Children 5 and under will not need a ticket.
For now, make sure to check out their curated Governors Ball 2020 official Spotify playlist. Get more familiar with the lineup roster, listen to old favorites, or even discover some new artists you want to catch this year.
