The second installment of Electric Island took place Saturday June 22nd at Woodbine Park due to water levels on the island. Despite being on the main land, the temporary location was a huge success managing to bring the same island vibe patrons crave.
The sun shined brightly on the main stage all afternoon. Toronto residents Automaticamore (Diana McNally) and Gera opened up, setting the mood with some chill techno. Dutch producer Tom Trago took over, heating us up a little more. The crowd was feeling totally groovy with funky disco beats brought to us by DJ Harvey. Time to turn it up! Blond:ish stepped onstage with a totally new vibe and some heavier techno beats as the sun set. Seth Troxler wrapped up an incredible day of tunes closing out the main stage.
Surrounded by foliage, the Moog Audio Stage offered a totally different vibe and some much needed shade from the blistering sun. Toronto’s own Aeryn Pfaff and Karim Olen Ash started the day off welcoming patrons with some serious techno sets followed by Montreal performer and vocalist, Pony. Goddollars kept the crowd moving before passing off the decks to Honey Soundsystem. Tom Stephan kept energy high closing out the Moog Audio stage.
Between the music (literally, on route from one stage to the other) the Hippie Market offered an array of specialty products. From trendy handmade accessories and unique, funky festival clothing to beautifully crafted stone pipes. One booth even had baby onesies with quirky quotes for sale, how cute! Venturing a little further, a variety of food trucks were on-site with options to satisfy your tastebuds and keep us fueled up to dance through the evening (I recommend the fish tacos from The Food Dudes truck). After grabbing a bite, we washed down our meal with FREE samples! Snapple and Hires Root Beer were onsite once again offering samples of their tasty new products.
