For all of you music-loving, foodie, art lovers out there, Outside Lands is returning to San Francisco August 9th-11th. Outside Lands is not only known for its incredible lineup but also for its focus on bringing world-class food and drinks to the festival scene. Oh, and for being one of the coldest summer music festivals…so ALWAYS WEAR LAYERS!
Being a Bay Area native, I’ve attended this event for over a decade. I’ve been lucky enough to see this festival continually evolve. From adding Wine Lands, to creating a stage for comedians and chefs, to adding fine dining experiences, Outside Lands always has something new to explore.
Here’s what Outside Lands has to offer for 2019:
THE MUSIC

Trust me. You’ll want to make time in your schedule to explore all the incredible food, wine, beer, and cocktails.
To give you an idea of how dedicated to the culinary arts Outside Lands is, they have created special areas at the festival called Wine Lands, Beer Lands, Cocktail Magic, Bubble Tea Party, Cheese Lands, and Outside Clams!
Lucky for you, Wine Lands and Cheese Lands are right next to each other so you can do a little DIY wine and cheese pairing. Wine Lands offers 125 different wines from 46 different wineries. So ya know, even the snobbiest of wine snobs should find something they like.
If beer is more your thing, Beer Lands, located near the main stage, has an incredible selection of craft brews from around the Bay Area. And unlike some festivals with restricted areas for drinking, you can walk around the festival with your drink.
If you’re feeling more like a specialty cocktail than beer or wine, don’t worry they’ve created Cocktail Magic just for you! Not only can you get a cocktail made by renowned bartenders in San Francisco, but you can also watch magicians and musicians while you’re there.
And last but not least, there are incredible food options everywhere! No matter what food mood you’re in, you’ll find something that will make you drool. There’s food from over 80 local restaurants, food trucks, and more.
COMEDY, COOKING, AND MORE
If you have a break in your music schedule, Outside Lands has several places you can go for entertainment. The Barbary Tent offers comedy shows in a burlesque tent setting.
D.A.V.E., which stands for Discussions About Virtually Everything, offers a speaker series focused on everything from science to politics to really anything that makes you go “hmmm…” Last year’s speakers included Bill Nye, Gavin Newsom, and Mickey Hart.
GastroMagic is a fun stage that pairs chefs with musicians, comics, and other artists for magical and unpredictable shows you won’t see (or taste) anywhere else. Imagine podcasts with a side of fries, or desserts and drum solos. I honestly couldn’t think of a more fun way to chow down!
