Photos from Spring Awakening Music Festival
After a particularly agonizing and brutal Midwestern winter, summer is almost here, and Spring Awakening Music Festival is the only way to properly celebrate! React Presents definitely shocked us all, but in the best way possible. With the hype of its new location and stellar lineup, I can confidently say I have never been so excited to go to the Chicago suburbs.
Another thing that’s been getting people talking is the amazing local talent featured on the lineup. All three days are stacked, totaling over 50 phenomenal local artists. Many names are familiar to me, and many are still new. Regardless, I wish I could see every one of these people. For those who may not be from the Midwest area and are more unfamiliar with the local roster, here are three local acts I am excited for (in alphabetical order) and some of their sick tunes.
Axilon (Friday)
Made up of Chicago-natives, Mike and Tim, Axilon is no stranger to the Midwest music community and is prepared to take the stage for its second year at Spring Awakening. These past several years, the DJ/producer duo has performed at countless shows, 515 Alive, Radiance NYE, Dancefestopia, etc. I have yet to see these two perform, and I’m looking forward to Spring Awakening 2019 being my first! I’ve been listening to Axilon’s Soundcloud more and more recently, and my neck is already sore in preparation of this upcoming multi-genre bass adventure.
Birthdayy Partyy (Saturday)
Another artist making its return to Spring Awakening for the second year in a row is Birthday Partyy, made up of Chicago-native twin brothers Jon and Bryan Gorecki. Coming together from previous independent projects, Birthdayy Partyy has made tremendous strides since its January 2018 origination and has been producing “partyy music for partyy people who like to partyy” at a truly unbelievable rate. Jon and Bryan’s passion for music really reflects their current successes, as Birthdayy Partyy has played Spring Awakening, EDC, and Radiance NYE last year with no plans to slow down anytime soon. They recently performed their first headlining show in Chicago at Soundbar, with several summer plans yet to be announced. This Spring Awakening will be my first time seeing these two perform, too, and I’m ready to partyy!
WOLFBITER (Friday)
As a Milwaukee local, Wolfbiter is one of the first local bass producers that instantly come to mind. Milwaukee is a bass-crazed town, and Sammie Anderson always delivers with the most heavy hitting and satisfying wubs. I’ve seen Wolfbiter perform twice now, one as support for Peekaboo and one as support for Dirt Monkey. Let me tell you firsthand, he is “one weird wolf.” The energy he brings on stage is contagious, and you know the entire crowd will be on its feet when he comes on stage. With this being Wolfbiter’s first Spring Awakening performance, I’m looking forward to seeing what he brings.

Soo stoked!
This would be amazing since I haven’t been able to save money because of my back surgery last year!
