Decadence Colorado is arguably one of the biggest EDM New Year’s parties in the United States. With a massive lineup featuring veteran acts like Bassnectar, Skrillex, and Above & Beyond, there were also performances by crowd favorites such as Illenium and Griz this year. Bringing in the New Year with friends and great music is hands down the perfect way to celebrate, and Decadence amplifies the experience by hosting a well organized and established production that repeatedly throws a beyond fun party.
The Venue
The Denver Convention Center located downtown offers a unique venue experience because it’s set up to feel like an underground basement or warehouse. This open space construction compliments the outstanding sound system by truly capturing all those little hidden “gem” sounds. In addition, there was ample space for everyone to dance, socialize, and chill-out without being squished.
The Convention Center somehow manages to create the perfect temperate environment and considering it was only 6 degrees this Monday I was slightly concerned I would be starting my new year with a cold; however, in-between sets I was not once overly hot or cold. Being a complete sissy to the cold, I really appreciate this factor when regarding my comfort and ability to enjoy the show.
The Experience
Returning to Decadence this year was something I had been looking forward to since the lineup dropped early this September, and it was entirely worth the wait. The crowd was always pleasant, flashing happy smiles and respecting one another’s space. The music was HEAVY! New Year’s Eve is a party and each artist came with the objective to excite the crowd with big drops and limitless energy. Zeds Dead gave a spectacular performance featuring melodic vocals and 3LAU played one of my favorite sets of the weekend during the countdown. Once again, Decadence left me dancing into the New Year eagerly anticipating my return!
