Attention! This is not a drill. Aliens have been sighted over Southern California and they are bringing all of the hottest and loudest music you’ve been craving to close out 2018. Insomniac is at it again with their 5th annual Countdown NYE festival at the NOS Events Center in San Bernardino on December 31st. The alien theme for this event won’t be the only thing that’s out of this world as organizers talk of a bigger and better party than last year’s. With the promise of new stages and some secret surprises we still don’t know about, this festival will be great for returning and new festival goers alike. But a good event would not be complete without a killer lineup, and Countdown has that in spades. With four stages to choose from, there will be something there for any electronic music fan to enjoy.
The Mothership
For all of the House music purists out there, there’s The Mothership. The Mothership stage will be hosting some of edm’s biggest names, including AfroJack, Dillon Francis, Tiesto, and Zedd to name a few. If you want classics to sing and dance along to as well as some classic house to feed your soul, this is where you’ll want to be.
Nebula
If you’re looking to go a little further out of this galaxy, you may want to visit the Nebula stage. With headliners like Alison Wonderland, RL Grime, and Party Favor the allure of this far away galaxy may seem obvious, but there are some rising stars amongst the giants to keep your eyes on as well. Acts like Loudpvck and k?d will be rocking this stage too. Bringing fresh and new sounds and styles to the electronic music scene, these up and coming DJ’s are definitely some to look out for.
Area 51
If you’re thinking, “Okay, but where’s the bass?” then worry no longer: Area 51 is the place for you. It’s impossible to hide the massive bass bombs of artists like Snails, Zomboy, and Herobust. Area 51 is sure to be quaking from the amount of filthy bass that will be pumping through the speakers here. And much like some strange specimen bred in a lab for bass-heads everywhere, the up-and-coming artist Dion Timmer willalso be here. This young DJ has been rocketing through the ranks in the past few years, thanks largely in part to his collaborations with bass icon, Excision. His will be an act to catch for anyone who’s ever head-banged to “Harambe.”
The Twilight Zone
Maybe mainstream house and bass aren’t really your style, well then it’s time to get lost in The Twilight Zone. The Twilight Zone stage has acts that push the boundaries of what house can sound like. Artists such as: Camelphat, Omnom, Shiba San, and Solardo, will be at this stage promising to bring strange, synthy, tech-house to your table. You can expect the unexpected from some of these artists as they continue to create their own unique sounds and beats.
With enough headliners to fill a two- or even three-day festival, in addition to the massive production value that Insomniac brings to their festivals, this New Year’s Eve extravaganza is definitely one to get to. So wrap your heads in tin foil, break out the big green aliens and get ready to send 2018 out of this world! Secure your Countdown NYE passes by purchasing tickets here.
