‘Tis the season for Santa hats, sugar cookies, Rudolph, and some funky tunes. The mastermind, saxophone player GRiZ is back and better than ever with his annual GRiZMAS announcement. GRiZmas is coming back to the Masonic Temple in Detroit, Michigan this December after the artist himself took a few months off from the world. Desocializing himself from social media and his supportive fans, he assured us all that he was coming back with incredible work he’s been just waiting to release. This will be one of the biggest shows of the year for the funky artist and he’s already in preparation for the holiday festivities with pre-parties, after parties, and more.
GRiZ is kicking off with his Mad Liberation Tour for The Night Before GRiZMAS in Downtown Detroit at the psychedelic Deluxx Fluxx. Following, he’ll be performing with his live band Friday night. His 14-piece band explodes funky tunes into the atmosphere as they turn the stage into one of the grooviest places to be. Let’s not forget the after party with his brassy friend The Russ Liquid Test at the Magic Stick.
Saturday night GRiZ will be performing his solo show where we can only hope to hear tons of new music including his two new singles, “It Gets Better” ft. DRAM and “Can’t Get Enough.” After busting a move to these two hits, we can only imagine what GRiZ has been cooking up inside the studio for this one. Closing out the final festivities of GRiZmas, be sure to head to the Majestic for the dynamic duo with both SHOOKA and GRiZ for their performance Does A Bearr Shiz In The Woods.
Not only will this be one of Griz’s biggest events of the year by music, but it will also be one of his most charitable! Detroit has helped built his career and Griz owes so much to Detroit’s music scene that he will be donating all proceeds from charitable GRiZmas events towards music education for public schools in Detroit. He hopes that this will help to create a supporting network for Detroit’s young creatives.
We say it every year but we mean it: you do not want to miss this GRiZmas. With some much needed time off, GRiZ is back and bringing all he’s got to one of the funkiest performances of the year.
