Halloween is the one time of the year where you can be someone other than yourself. Whether this is your alter ego, Freddy Krueger, or a fun Disney character- its a very special experience. This year, I have a planned costume idea (I can’t tell yet), but I’m also going to be myself as an EDM lover, a music connoisseur with absolutely no dancing limits at Minimal Effort. Located in Downtown, Los Angeles at the Enox, Minimal Effort will take place on October 28th, 2017. The venue itself has a warehouse feel to it, but also offers lounges and a huge indoor factory dance-floor with an outdoor stage area. The lineup is incredible and I’ve been counting down the days until I can dance my face off and also wear an awesome costume. The full lineup is one you cannot miss, but the three performers I’m most excited for are Dusky, MK and Amine Edge & DANCE. See the full lineup below:
London, electronic dance music duo, Dusky (previously known as Solarity), also known as Nick Harriman and Alfie Granger-Howell, started releasing music in 2009. Their sound consists of funky house, techno, and deep house, which were influenced by jazz, classical, and soul electronica. When I hear their music, I always feel like I’m a fairy dancing in a forest. Their music has a magical tone and vibes that feel like I’m in a fantasy land with glitter all over the place. They’ve been touring festivals like CRSSD festival, Electric Daisy Carnival and Ultra Festival, but the next place to catch them is at Minimal Effort.

Marc Kinchen, also known as MK, is an American DJ, record producer, and remixer who has a soulful, unique, techno energy that makes my body move in ways I never knew it could. He’s remixed songs including ones by, Lana Del Rey, Sky Ferreira, and Sam Smith-and continues to create incredible bangers. When I hear MK’s music, all I can think about are bright colors and frolicking around dancing. It’s the best kind of music to put on when you just want to let loose.

My third favorite DJ that will be performing at Minimal Effort is, Amine Edge & DANCE. They’ve hit the dance community with their Phili soul, hip-hop and their very own signature sound, “G-House.” Their most recently released song, “Lovelee Dae”, makes my heart beat with the rhythm of the deep house sounds. Good Time EP was recently released and makes me feel like I’m at a show in an underground cave. I can picture a dark room, with intricate lights that make the sounds feel better.
