For the first year in the heart of the capital, PRIME Music Festival was held in Lansing, MI this last weekend. From the creators of Breakaway Music Festival, the two day festival brought in artists such as Cheat Codes, Machine Gun Kelly, Joyryde, Migos, and several others.

Adado Riverfront Park had the ground shaking Friday, September 15th. Rosco P, Diamond Jones, Prince Fox, and Playboi Carti took the stage early into the night. Following Playboi Carti was the Michigan State alum himself, Quinn XCII. Not only did he have the crowd moving, he had fans yelling “GO GREEN, GO WHITE” the whole night. Cheat Codes vibrated the stage immediately after. Meanwhile, over at silent disco Waka Flocka Flame made an appearance alongside the two DJs who had the fans “dancing in silence.” Later that night, Waka Flocka Flame brought the crowd from the silence disco back to the main stage as he was going hard in the paint. The american rapper not too far from home, known as Machine Gun Kelly, closed out the night.

Saturday had fans arriving earlier than the night before. The day was full of energy with performances from Pigpen, Jekyll l Hyde, Packy, Michael Christmas, and the current spartan himself, VADR. Playboi Carti, Blackbear, and Joyryde pumped up the crowd for the two closers- Migos and Marshmello. Migos had all the fans acting bad & boujee. Marshmello closed the two day festival with his signature mellogang audience and rousing performance.

Aside from the performances, extracurricular activities took place. Who thought people would be coming to PRIME without a tattoo and leaving with a new art piece inked on their body but it happened. Inside the tattoo tent were several booths of Colonies Couture tattoo artists allowing patrons to schedule appointments and get them done right there at the festival. When someone wasn’t getting a tattoo, they could have been at any of the delicious food vendors. Options starting at Island Noodles, to pizza from The Oven, to Good Food Pronto, or a sweet rolled up ice cream dessert from Street Kings. Fans were sure not going home hungry. Retail vendors were posted along the crowd selling items ranging from pins to festival merch. VIP passes allowed fans to have a little extra fun with giant jenga games and a photo booth. Bean bag chairs and sofas scattered the fenced in area allowing fans to relax comfortably when their feet began to hurt from dancing too hard.

Just when you thought PRIME had just enough, an afterparty was held at Club Rush in downtown East Lansing both nights. Friday had performances from Prince Fox and VADR. Saturday had Jekyll l Hyde, VADR, and a mix of collaborative artists.

The two day festival brought the party to Lansing, MI this weekend. Stay tuned for more information about PRIME Music Festival 2018. Brought to you by Prime Social Group and the creators of Breakaway- See you next year!
