Breakaway Expanded To Grand Rapids- Recap

For the first time ever, Breakaway Music Festival broke way and was held in Grand Rapids, MI this last weekend. Bringing in artists such as Travis Scott, Zedd, Crankdat, 3LAU, and many more, Belknap Park saw a little more playing time than usual. With addition to the main stage and looking over the city lights, fans were able to dance to their favorite artists for the silent disco.

On Friday, Goldlink, Bro Safari, and Crankdat kicked off the day. It was a big day for Crankdat with it being the same day as his new single release, Dollars. Later in the night, VADR had the crowd getting down to silence but their best dance moves at the Silent Disco. Waka Flocka Flame had the crowd separating with no hands as he brought the heat onto the stage. Following Waka, R.L. Grime performed under the sunset. As the sun went down, you could see the faces of fans as the production of lights hit them at just the right angle. Travis Scott took the stage to close out the night.

Come Saturday, everyone was coming in with the same smiling faces they left with, ready to dance the day away to their favorite artists. Blackbear, Cheat Codes, 3LAU prepared the crowd for the rest of the night. The indie pop artist, Jon Bellion, took the stage as one of the closers. Following his electric performance, as always, Zedd brought his best production. With visuals and lights going every which way, the audience got lost in the clarity and made best of what was left of the night.

In addition to the performances, Breakaway had several vendors consisting of merchandise and food. Food consisted of pizza slices, coffee, mouthwatering hot dogs, and some rich bbq. Coming from Ohio to Grand Rapids, the first year was a success. Holding thousands of people and bringing in huge headliners, there is no doubt they will have something special in store for next year.
