This will be my first year at Summer Set and to say I am excited, doesn’t begin to cover it. Held at Somerset, Wisconsin, this three day camping festival is about to bring the heat with an unbelievable lineup.
Vibes and grime seems to be the theme for this weekend. My top picks are Audien, Ghastly, Zomboy and Big Wild. Don’t let that innocent face of Audien fool you, he carefully weaves his feel good music with some heavy bass/trap into his set. All I can say is expect the unexpected. As for Ghastly, he will make sure to keep your body moving mixing between trap, dubstep, and bass house. He is still one of the most underrated artists in the game right now. The recent video release of his single with Matthew Koma, ‘We Might Fall’ showcases his talent as both a video producer and music producer. The transitions between nature and the mysterious subject artfully accompanies the catchy future romantic sounds beautifully. Next, lets talk about Zomboy as he is my #zombae! So much hype has been surrounding his current Rock n Roll Tour. Needless to say I will be breaking my neck with whatever wild heavy sounds he throws at us. Finally we have Big Wild. He puts on a show unlike anything I have ever seen. He doesn’t rely on the usual lasers/crazy visual/fire cannon combinations as he shows his creative talent playing live across multiple instruments. Just Big Wild, you, and the music (and his beautiful locks of course). There is just something magical about it.
Can’t miss for the weekend? The ALL Good Records Pop Up Stage! I love when flyers dishes out that Special Guests feature. Don’t be the person who missed out on a surprise set that had everyone talking. Maybe we could see some b2b action with the man himself, Griz! We all know the love between Griz and his fans are unrivaled, I mean I have been seeing the “Griz is Love’ totem” making rounds multiple festivals this year. That being said, don’t miss Griz’s headlining set too! Griz is important, Griz is Love, Love is Love!
The festival itself offers multiple campground options and RV camping. The north campgrounds is a tent only area, while the south campgrounds allows camping next to cars. Shuttles and trolleys will be available to move your camp gear to your site if your at the north campgrounds. For the Woods VIP camping, you get the wonderful shade, campsite parking, the most convenient location to the venue, and all the other great amenities listed on the site. If camping is not your thing, Summer Set partnered with Unity Travel to bring you a hotel exclusively for Summer Set Music Festival guests. It even includes a continental breakfast and a Pizza Party at the hotel. Unity Travel also brings you a Solo Traveler Program for those solo festival goers like myself. What better way to make new friends?
One thing I’m looking forward to is tubing. Yes I said, tubing. There is nothing more fun than getting to enjoy the outdoor activity portions of a music festival. Nearby the festival is Float Rite Park, where you can enjoy an entire afternoon on the water for less than $20. It also can double a free shower so it is a win-win.
Whether you have been since its creation in 2012, or it is your first Summer Set this year will surely be a blast. With so many things to offer and an incredible line up definitely get your tickets!
