There was absolutely no better way to start the FSroadtrip than seeing this masterpiece of a lineup. The Austin City Limits lineup almost had me spilling gas all over myself instead of in my car when I first looked at it (and had me immediately texting my cousin asking if he was ready for a visitor come October). Specific cause of the immediate excitement: Gorillaz. One of the very last two acts on my bucket list of artists to see live, and ACL is going to take care not only this one, but the last one too. How sweet.
I have been listening to Gorillaz since I was 6, so getting to see them live (AND with new music), 13 years later is pretty cool. Getting to say I’m the same age as Gorillaz, even cooler. For those of you who aren’t too familiar with Gorillaz, they are considered a virtual band. The band was created by Damon Albarn (who takes care of the musical aspects) and Jamie Hewlett (who takes care of the visuals). The virtual band consists of characters 2-D (lead vocals and keyboards), Murdoc Niccals (bass), Noodle (guitar and keyboards), and Russel Hobbs (drums and percussion). Pretty cool, right? The videos and music that Gorillaz produces can only make me wonder what the hell ACL attendees might see during this set. All I know is that it’s going to be sick.
The Killers is the other of the two left of my bucket list and I cannot wait to see them perform live. Some other incredible acts I’m excited to see again: Foster the People, Glass Animals (stop whatever you’re doing and listen to this), Milky Chance, COIN, and Portugal. The Man.
Get ready to experience all of these plus so many more at Austin City Limits in October!
