Atlanta’s favorite rock festival is officially back — and Shaky Knees 2026 just delivered one of its strongest lineups in years.
Set for September 18–20 at Piedmont Park, the festival’s move to fall last year already had fans excited. Last year’s transition to a new date (from May to September) and new location (to the much larger Piedmont Park) was wildly successful and leaving everyone excited for what 2026 has in store. Now that the full lineup is here, it’s clear: this is a weekend built for indie kids, rock lifers, and anyone who still believes guitars belong on big stages.
Here’s the Festival Squad breakdown of what we’re circling, planning for, and already arguing about in the group chat.

Friday: Indie Royalty Meets New-School Chaos
Headliner: The Strokes
Friday kicks off with serious indie legacy energy as The Strokes close out the night — the kind of set that turns Piedmont Park into one giant singalong.
But the real story is the build:
- Turnstile bringing high-energy hardcore crossover chaos
- Fontaines D.C. delivering brooding, festival-ready post-punk
- Geese continuing their rapid rise
- Danny Elfman (yes, that Danny Elfman) for a wild wildcard moment
- Hot Mulligan, Snow Strippers, Ben Howard, Alice Phoebe Lou
Festival Squad prediction: this might be the sleeper best day for discovery.
Saturday: Crowd Favorites and Pure Festival Energy
Headliner: Twenty One Pilots
Saturday is built for big crowds and bigger reactions. Twenty One Pilots are known for turning festival sets into full-scale experiences, and the rest of the day stacks up like a greatest-hits playlist for alternative fans.
Must-watch energy:
- Pierce the Veil (expect a massive turnout)
- The Prodigy bringing electronic-rock intensity
- Pavement for the indie purists
- Jimmy Eat World nostalgia singalongs
- Taking Back Sunday emotional crowd moments
- Peach Pit, Blood Orange, Wolf Alice, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets
Translation: if you were an alt kid at any point in the last 20 years, this is your day.

Sunday: The Most Stacked Day on the Poster
Headliner: Gorillaz
Sunday might be the strongest top-to-bottom lineup of the weekend.
Closing things out:
- Gorillaz with their full multimedia, genre-blending spectacle
- LCD Soundsystem for the dance-cry crowd
- Wu-Tang Clan bringing hip-hop legends to the park
And it keeps going:
- Modest Mouse
- Japanese Breakfast
- Santigold
- Knocked Loose (for the heavy crowd)
- Coheed and Cambria, OK Go, Jet, American Hi-Fi
Festival Squad call: plan your Sunday schedule early — the conflicts are going to hurt.

What Makes This Lineup Work
Shaky Knees continues to do what few major festivals still commit to:
- Indie and alternative at the core
- Real legacy acts (not just throwbacks)
- A mix of cult favorites and current touring momentum
- Just enough genre crossover to keep things interesting without losing its identity
From The Strokes → Pavement → LCD Soundsystem → Modest Mouse → Gorillaz, this poster reads like a greatest-hits timeline of alternative music.
The Fall Factor (Big Win)
The September move means:
- Cooler evenings
- Better golden-hour sets for photos (Festival Squad photographers, we’re ready)
- Less heat fatigue, more all-day energy
Honestly, this might be the best upgrade Shaky Knees has made in years.

Festival Squad Game Plan
Already happening:
- Friday: roam and discover mode
- Saturday: emotional singalong endurance
- Sunday: conflict stress and sprinting between stages
Ongoing debate:
Rail life vs. roam life.
Final Take
Shaky Knees 2026 isn’t trying to reinvent itself — it’s doubling down on what makes it great: big indie names, real rock energy, and three packed days in the heart of Atlanta.
Fall weather. A stacked poster. Multiple generations of alternative icons.
This one’s going to sell fast.
See you in Piedmont Park.
