Even with the sun beating down on a hot summer’s day, Chicagoans know that Lake Michigan will chill you to the bone almost year-round. On Saturday, March 24th as the lingering winter fades to early spring, brave music fans will take the plunge into the lake at Oakwood Beach on behalf of React Presents and two local organizations. Their motivation? One free 2-Day VIP Pass to Mamby on the Beach, a two-day summer festival on Chicago’s Oakwood Beach, Official Mamby Plunge Towel, T-shirt, Drawstring bag, and a chance to give back to the community.
To qualify for the pass and official Mamby goodies, participants have to join the cause and raise at least $125 for charity before taking the plunge. The goal is to raise $5000 with ALL proceeds benefiting the West Point Missionary Baptist Church and the KLEO Community Life Center, two organizations with missions to promote community engagement on the south side of Chicago. The West Point Missionary Baptist Church sponsors several events to raise awareness about things like domestic violence, disease, and mental health, while the KLEO Community Life Center offers after-school programs for kids in music, dance, poetry and academic tutoring.
All participants in the plunge must be 18 years or older to enter with a valid photo ID, and the participant who raises the most money takes home (Two) 2-Day Artist Passes. You will be granted backstage access and guest area access with complimentary drinks all weekend long!
Mamby on the Beach takes place this year on June 23rd-24th, and has featured an amazing lineup last year that included MGMT, Tchami, Green Velvet, Walk The Moon, and Marian Hill. Early Bird GA passes are available starting at $99, while Early Bird VIP starts at $149. Before the 2018 line-up drops, take a drop in Lake Michigan and raise at least $125 for a free 2-Day VIP pass, Mamby goodies, and get involved in a local Chicago cause.
