It’s official. Goldenvoice has done it again. With a stacked lineup at this year’s FYF Fest, California natives and attendees from across the country are sure to pack in LA’s Exposition Park. If you’re after chill vibes, beautiful weather, and an iconic LA backdrop, look no further.
Expanding from two to three days, this year’s festival will include the likes of Frank Ocean, Missy Elliot, Björk, and Nine Inch Nails. If that doesn’t perk your ears, Majid Jordan, Beach Fossils, MGMT, A Tribe Called Quest, Solange, Run the Jewels, and more insanely talented artists will be gracing the stages of USC’s stomping grounds. If you’re new to the FYF train, here’s some background.
Founded in 2004, FYF has become a Los Angeles staple for music and art lovers alike. Established artists such as Kanye West and Flume have brought attention to this one of a kind festival in the city. The Main Stage, the Lawn, the Arena, and the Woods are the four stages you can see some stellar music at.
One of the best parts about this festival is the location. Easy to get to and easy to navigate, the stages are all large and accessible. The size of the festival is large but nothing close to some other noteworthy festivals like Coachella. Enjoy craft beer under the shade and hop over to the Woods stage for an intimate show. The headliners and more notable artists will take over the Main Stage, as Kendrick Lamar did in 2016. As a first time FYF goer last year, I was absolutely blown away. If you haven’t seen levitate live, you haven’t lived.
The weather was perfect, the artists brought their A-game, and it certainly inspired me to come back for round two in 2017. The festival kicks off on July 21 and wraps up on July 23.
TIPS ON WHERE TO STAY: It’s LA. There are hundreds (literally, hundreds) of hotels downtown. Some hotels spitting distance from the stadium are the Radisson and the Vagabond Inn.
Single or 3-day passes are available for purchase here.
